About LRC

Land Research Center – LRC – was founded in 1986 in Jerusalem as part of the Arab Studies Society, established by late Faisal Husseini. LRC was registered in the occupied Palestinian territories in 1999 as an independent nongovernmental body under the registration no. BL-322-P in accordance with the Law of Charitable Societies and Non- Governmental Organizations. The General Assembly consists of 24 members, professional in different domains related to the work of the center in addition to the 7-member board of directors elected every three years. LRC has branches in Hebron, Bethlehem and Nablus; its main headquarter located in Jerusalem is closed since February 08, 2002 by a military order that is automatically renewed every six months.

As an institution, Land Research Center believes that the protection and development of natural resources is a developmental necessity and a precondition for achieving goals of sustainable development. Consequently, the Center defined vision b: "decent living for Palestinians on their land and in their sovereign democratic state", where decent living includes men, women, boys, girls and children, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination between Palestinians, whether they are based on race, religion or gender The Center also defined its mission with the following: "We seek to enable Palestinians to access and use their natural resources in a fair and sustainable manner," with a focus on small landowners, small farmers, livestock breeders, homeowners, and owners of the demolished or threatened homes and establishments, especially in East Jerusalem, and with men, women, youth and all the entrepreneurs  in the field of natural resource management, either directly or with their families, associations, unions and cooperatives, indirectly, and with any serious and effective official bodies or committees at the local or national level.

The decisions, attitudes and actions of the Center's members, employees, volunteers and partners of change are based on a set of values. The commitment to these values is considered a prerequisite to ensure the achievement of the best results related to the sustainable and effective use of natural resources in accordance with the rights-based approach, among which is integrity, collective action, community participation, nationalism and supporting vulnerable groups, In addition to the values of courage, democracy, equality, justice, solidarity and volunteering.
